When The Beat Drops..

A pax of 7 showed up for a hot and sunny beatdown at Rush Hour, about 95 degrees to be exact. Compared to YHC’s three previous Q’s, which were all rainy and/or wet. Though I’m sure we would’ve all been ok with that this time around. So, after the Pledge of Allegiance we were off and running to the grassy spot beside the parking deck for warmups. Commitment

Today is my birthday. I signed up over a month ago for this workout, not knowing what I’d be doing the preceding few days. This was a mistake. In hindsight, fartsacking would have been a great idea. However, I’m not one to back down off a commitment! I said I was going to do it, so I’m going to do it. I will note, however, that my body was in sever protest after yesterday’s 12-Mile ruck, Murph Convergence, and full day of actively working outside in the heat. [Read More]

Just Warming Up!

26 HIMs posted the fine morning of Saturday, May 25th first the first of my Birthday week Q’s. I had to make it warmer! The Triple Nickel Strikes Again!

The last of my official Birthday Week Q’s, and while still feeling a little tired an a little sore, I was ready to get it this morning. I just Q’d at Bond Park a few days ago and wanted to keep this a bit more fresh. With the Crazy Train coming up, and folks getting more focused on BRR training, I figured we get a little hill work in, and make it a little exciting at the same time. [Read More]

I Did It All For The Q-zie

16 PAX fought off the post-Murph fartsack at Full Metal Jacket this morning, greeted by warm air and a beautiful sunrise. YHC pulled into the lot right at 0529 and promptly gave the “one minute” warning. My mind swam as I tried to figure out what to do next. You see, the night before, I learned I was Q-ing via slack. This isn’t the first time this has happened (and certainly won’t be the last), but as I looked around the PAX, I noticed a few unfamiliar faces and I didn’t want to disappoint. [Read More]

Ode to Memorial Day 2018

53 strong came out to the Memorial Day Convergence in 2018 at the Field of Dreams site. Many of of those 53 will tell you the first thing that comes to mind when they recall that workout are the battle scars they bear on their elbows left behind from one particular exercise. In the past year I’ve only seen that exercise called one other time and it wasn’t warmly received then either. [Read More]

Why Murph

“In an interview, Daniel Murphy said that he was not surprised to learn about his son’s actions. ‘What Maureen and I always worried about was that he would put himself in danger to help someone else, which turned out to be true,’ he said. " If you’re not familiar with the story of Micheal Murphy and his final heroic acts that ultimately cost him his life I invite you click below: https://www. [Read More]

5 Years Callahan

On this day five years ago, I started down a path I never thought I needed to go down. My friend David asked me to come work out with him and I obliged. I figured it might be a good way to network, since I was looking to expand my career opportunities. However, 55 minutes into the work out, I found myself hanging over a railing, peering out at the serene little lake in front of me, wondering just how much longer I could possibly hold back from spilling my guts into said little lake.
