Sooey's BACK!

Tomorrow marks the 90 day mark from when YHC had L5-S1 spinal fusion. In a way, that went by quick but in a way that seems like forever ago. YHC only ‘missed’ two weeks of F3 during the initial recovery, making it a point to post 3-4 days a week. The PAX really stepped up to keep me company on what was branded as the Sooey Shuffle. Thank you for everyone for all of the support and encouragement during the recovery process! [Read More]

Copperhead vs Water Snake

Fresh off my triumph return from the South Wake Fritter Challenge, and conquering their Kettlebell workout, Crazy Ivan, I decided to “borrow” some of the workout and bring it with me to Hell’s Bells. YHC & Chanticleer (Yes, you read that right) for a little 3 mile EC with bathroom break. Kettlebells were chosen, a circle was formed, and the workout began. **Warm Up **Good Morning, Windmill, Arm Circles, Seal Claps, Overhead Claps, SSH, Steve Earle [Read More]

From Sea to Shining... Forest?

Coming from a quick meeting with my Shield Lock had me rolling in hot at 0528. Hi-Liter gives me the 2:07 warning. A healthy crowd awaited eager to sweat out the weekend of indulgence in the name of honoring the mothers in our lives. Props to all the HIMs out there who lifted up their Ms this weekend. That Most important relationship in our lives is often the one who imparts to our 2. [Read More]

YokoZuna was MIA

I pulled my first Riptide on my last Q and never wrote the back blast for FMJ where I earned by first Q-zie. I am also hi-jacking one back blast to write about another AO briefly. I feel like I am committing all the sins of Carpex at once…okay I feel absolved for my sins - I said 3 Our Fathers and ran 3 Miles. Was looking forward to my first Q at Kryptonite and had put some thought into what I wanted to do. [Read More]

No Merkins Today, Boys!

After yesterday’s chest and shoulder Kitty Kluster at Sippery When Wet, YHC decided it to be leg and abs morning. With the Brave and Mighty Oliie posting for a solo 5-mile EC, the remaining 23 less motivated PAX assembled for the pledge and headed out on a mosey across High House for a warm up. Let it be noted that Pet Sounds posted, fresh from RDU and red-eye from Cali! [Read More]

And now for something completely different......

In the ever brightening gloom as we giddy up toward summer, 15 brave and intrepid men made their way to an outpost in the northernmost western AO in Cary, for an early morning beatdown by Carpex legend Petsounds. Petsounds has other ideas and was thousands of miles away in sunny CA whilst all this was going on, so instead YHC stepped in as a makeweight Q whilst Petsounds googleplexed in Palo Alto…. And We Ran

YHC felt a little Gumpy this morning, so I took advantage of the opportunity at Carpex’s finest High-Tempo bootcamp to get our run on. Burtflop

Well, Ultimate Frisbee season started up, so posting to Carpex workouts has been limited by soreness and/or injuries. I haven’t posted in about 3 weeks, so I was pumped to take the Q at DangerZone this morning. Of course I was expecting to be greeted to a heroes welcome, or strut into the AO while a boombox is blasting the Welcome Back Kotter’s theme song. Nope, none of those happened. Instead the night before, Sabre is skeaning me for not having some sort of a Pre-Blast, Peeerogi is questioning my mobility to Q, and CK is DM’ing me constantly…with his only interest of bequeathing me with his old bicycle inner-tubes with advice to utilize said inner-tubes during the Q for resistance running “in case you can’t think of any exercises to do”. I will not leave you

Men, Two years ago today I showed up in the F3 Carpex Gloom at the invite of my fraternity brother, Jamie “Repeato” Roseborough. I had been back in North Carolina for about eight months and things were going well. I was getting in workouts about three days a week in the gym and crushing a strong 2-3 mile solo run on the weekend. Things were fine, right? Wrong. Something was still missing, and as they say, you now know the rest of the story. [Read More]
