And I Thought No One Was Coming

YHC forgot this was the 4 year anniversary of Shut-In (1/5/15 officially) so last week finding an empty Q slot at HBs was perfect! YHC and The Joker did some ECPs while we waited for pax to show. I thought no one was coming but at 0525 the parade of headlights flooded the park. 15 pax were up and ready to go at 0530 for the disclaimer and pledge. Pax # 16 joined us after our loop around the pickle for warmup. [Read More]

Blocks + Rain = Pain

After posting several times with our fine F3 brothers in Hickory, NC this fall, YHC came to appreciate the versatile, yet potentially lethal concrete masonry unit (CMU aka “cinder block”) in a workout. Call it an implement, a coupon, whatever you’d like…they’re 38 pounds of jagged edged concrete. After a quick run to Lowes’, where CMU’s can be found for under $2 a piece, YHC decided to create a morning around them. [Read More]

Not My Finest Hour (and 20 minutes)

Where do I start? The beginning is always a good place. So I woke up at 5:10 am, the exact time I posted the Danger Zone EC run would start. Feeling completely refreshed and well rested, and not yet comprehending what was going on, I went to the bathroom to get ready and take care of some business. Still in no particular hurry because I wasn’t yet grasping the situation. [Read More]

A Q-versary Murph

Last night during dinner I was explaining to my 2.0s what the workout for the next morning was going to be and why. As I read to them the heroic account of Micheal P Murphy and his ensuing death I became immediately convicted of why I called the Murph for a workout. While physically it is quite a challenge, my hope is as we endeavor to complete such a feat that we are taking a moment to remember the all the great men and women who risk their lives everyday in defense of the United States of America. I have to admit, if I wasn’t Q’ing today I am not sure I would have made it out of the fartsack. I had originally planned to Q Dante’s Peak this week but Parker requested the spot for his birthday celebration so I picked up FC instead. I wasn’t too thrilled with my decision this morning while driving to the finest AO in NW Cary today in the rain. It is a great spot with a solid group of regulars so definitely worth the trip.
