Merkinpalooza

When you arrive at Tortoises early you have to join Theismann in ECPs. Spartan, MaBell, Red Ryder and Theismann were already knocking them out, so I did a couple sets with them. I had prepared music to last 52 minutes, so at 5:23am the mellow piano of Floyd Cramer (playlist is below) greeted the 29 PAX as they stumbled in from the gloom. At 5:30 we moseyed over to the front lot, circled up and did: [Read More]

Like Unicorns and Glitter

December 31, 2018 AO: Hells Bells QIC: Frisco PAX: Ashbury, Earhart, Kubota, Meatloaf, Monkey Nut, Milton Bradley, Rooney, Shut In, The Joker As I was driving in this morning with the hard core sounds of Fight Song by Rachel Platten blasting it occurred to me that I hadn’t thought up a name for my 9th VQ workout. Then the radio jockey mumbled something about “goes together like unicorns and glitter” and the Frisco mental juices began to flow. [Read More]

What's Your Kryptonite?

Conditions were 51 degrees, 50% foggy, and 50% gloomy. I inserted a pre-blast for coffeeteria at NY Bagels. Other pre-blast material was request from Burt for Agility City (see original Agility City here: (https://f3carpex.com/2017/05/09/agility-city/) , and a request from Largemouth for EC run because “the QIC was soft”. Of the three pre-blasts, only two were partially true. Then yesterday afternoon, the M informed me we would be hosting the cul-de-sac game night at our house. [Read More]

Head-to-Toe, Let Yourself Swoll, Slow and Low that is the Tempo

On a balmy and moist December morn, a handful of PAX gathered at Danger Zone to slow down, take a deep breath, and ready themselves to finish up an amazing year in Carpex. While others may opt for a quicker pace, YHC decided it was time to slow down and focus on form and strength. Some of the toughest workouts I’ve endured featured tempo Merkins and long-hold planks, so I thought I’d put together a workout of nothing but Slow and Low exercises. [Read More]

FOR THE RECORD

They said it couldn’t be done. It was just too far in too short of time. Too many variables to avoid the dreaded asterisk. They said Hello Kitty defined “up tempo”’ for the CarPex region with his official non-asterisk AO record of 4.55 miles. He was the champ. Our job was just not to be chumps. Well gentlemen, six PAX showed up on a crisp Christmas Eve morning to prove it could be done.
