Cherries and Pain Sticks

Pre-Blast This being my virgin Q and my first time at SNS, I truly appreciate all the support and advice from the PAX. Special thanks go to Angry Elf for the pep talk the night before and for planning the Thang with the pain sticks. I do wish I had made it to Q school. It is amazing how much I didn’t pick-up naturally from two months of just doing the workouts. [Read More]

Is it Begin or Exercise.... (it's exercise...)

So a little less than 5 Months ago in May, an overweight, really out of shape FNG wandered up to Rush Hour. I was welcomed warmly by Old Maid and Disco Duck, and Riptide showed up to lead the Pax at 17:45. We went to the parking deck and ran the stairs with pain sticks and baked on the top deck of the parking deck. Now I am less overweight and less out of shape so in honor of that work out we would not be going to the parking deck or getting close to pain sticks… [Read More]

I Did It All for the Koozie

They say good things come to those who wait. Who are they? The PAX? The Q? 24 gathered to find out for a VQ that was a long time coming. YHC awoke at 0420 for a 0530 VQ approx 4 minutes away. Alrighty then. Arrived early to off load the pain sticks and found FNG Daniel alone in the parking lot with his car and an empty black BMW. PAX piled in the small lot, disclaimer was given, and off we went. [Read More]

Q-ing from the Sidelines

Flirting with Disaster was my first F3 post last August and I knew that I wanted my VQ to be here as well. It was a full circle as Joe Smith had his VQ at my first post and he was out there with us this morning. My goal was to cover some ground and avoid running in the pitch black (towards the bridge) as I didn’t know how may headlamps we would have amongst us. [Read More]

The Cheddar Beast

Excited and a tad nervous for VQ week and my VQ at A-Team. Call me obsessive compulsive but I made two scouting trips to the AO, one in the daytime and one 30 minutes before go time, just to make certain that what I saw in the daylight still worked in the gloom. Good news…it did. No FNG’s but just for practice (you talk’n ‘bout practice) gave the disclaimer speech and off we went with a goal of seeing the familiar parking lots in a little different light. [Read More]

Pickle course and football practice

VQ week “officially” started today…though some brothers started last week. For my VQ, the challenge was on to keep up the Wolverine site tradition. It was an early October morning. 75 degrees & very humid, but that didn’t stop us. 23 PAX eager & ready to go. Unaware of what was ahead, many showed to support me as VQ. Butterflies…of course, make mistakes…probably, mumbled at?….most certainly. 5:30 - we started started off with the pledge and a jog around the park pickle - regular run, high knee, side shuffle, backwards, etc…now we’re ready to run to Davis Dr MS.
