The Hill is alive with the sound of Merkins (and pull-ups)

So a few take-aways from my VQ at Tortoises. Be prepared to be alone when you offer a EC 3 mile run when both @Earhart and @DiscoDuck are not there. Remembering the proper commands is harder than it looks. Sorry fellas, next time I will remember the “Recover” command. Carrying a cheat sheet with you sounds like a good idea, until you try to read it in the dark while in the process of doing an exercise. [Read More]

After the rain, the Turks come out

Long time participant, second time Q, first time back-blaster (yeah, I know). Twas the night before Wolverine and all through the house, not a creature was stirring but the roof might have come off from that ridiculous Summer storm in Spring. YHC had a plan at 4pm that involved the soccer field Mother Nature to YHC: Ha ha ha ha ha…. 9:15 Sunday night (wind whipping, lightning everywhere…) YHC to M: I’m headed to bed, gotta Q in the morning. Anniversary Kegger

April 10, 2018 It’s been one year since YHC first tasted the Gloom at FWD in April 2017, and YHC felt a little celebration was in order. But how best to mark the occasion with a touch of class and sophistication? Would the PAX prefer a tasteful platter of dry-roasted, unsalted, Whole-30-reminiscent almonds? Or mayhaps a pre-breakfast kegger? After unsuccessfully /polling the PAX on Slack (better watch your back @Slackbot) and then successfully polling the PAX on GroupMe (long may it reign), kegs beat almonds and YHC knows that the first rule of partying it to give the people what they want. A perfectly timed downtown workout (well, except for the ruckers)

After a quick disclaimer to the FNG, 15 Pax departed FUMC at promptly 5:45:01. Three ruckers went on their way. Jogged up to the bank plaza (where the new spotlights can burn through your soul) for a typical warmup (SSH, IWs, etc.), losing Callahan in the process. Jog to the south corner of Academy and Ambassador Loop to partner up. Ascending Burpee Catch-me-if-you-can around the loop to the parking garage. Riptide offered the opportunity to use the sleds, but YHC eased the minds of the concerned Pax by politely declining. [Read More]

Dos Toros

Saturday is coming up fast and no one has claimed the Phoenix Q. YHC checks with the co-site Q to see if it’s really available, it is, and we decide to co-Q. Disco Duck takes the first half, Texas Ranger takes the second. Here we go. Warm-Up Mosey over to the community center parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, Sir Fazios, plank jacks and mountain climbers. The Thang [Read More]

Time to Get a Little Spooky

Click here to set the mood. Finally making it back to Slippery When Wet to pay Q respect to the site Q who bailed me out 6 weeks ago… when my 2.1 was born! I’ve been back to SWW once in the last 6 weeks, but I’m ready to execute at least part of the plan that I had half-hatched for that fateful day… with a spin. After all, today is Friday the 13th. Broken Wing

It was another fine Friday morning. Today, Hello Kitty joined regulars Michelob, Squatter, and YHC for the 2.5 mile EC run into DP. We were greeted by an additional 13 men before we began the main event. YHC reminded the PAX that his right wing was still not 100%, so we’d be exercising our running shoes. CamoKoozie!

DOW: 4/3/18 QIC: Flip Flop PAX: can’t remember, but there were either 11 or 13. Yeah I forgot to write the BB, but @shutincarpex so kindly reminded me. So here’t is…as best I remember. I literally had never been to FMJ. The M works out on Tuesdays, so I stay at home and get my girls ready for the day, which is usually not quite up to the wife’s standards. You know, wake up late, girls in mis-matching clothing, shoes on wrong feet, toothpaste in unbrushed hair…. Hell in the Cell

Friday the 13th and with Wrestlemania in our rear-view mirror and Nature Boy on site with an FNG ta boot, it’s time to get the boys some time in the newly structured cells at Dante’s Peak. 25…oh wait… here comes Sky Blue… 26 for a Friday beat down.
