Shank's "High Intensity" Workout

When: 7/28/17 QIC: Shank The PAX: Hermes, Angry Elf, Large Mouth, Joe Smith, Bartman, Perogi, Chanticleer, Sky Blue After a couple of months with F3 I did a “high-intensity workout” - after all, aren’t all of them high intensity? Well, I nearly passed out and promised I would never do it again, but today I was conquering my fear and created my own version of “high-intensity” at Danger Zone with the 8 men who joined me this morning. Swimming with the Fishes. OIB.

Half, Kitty and YHC….2 of CarPex’s finest and YHC met at the OIB Fishing Pier for a Sarday morning workout. Overcast, low 70’s, nice wind out of the west. OIB is a southern facing beach so with wind out of the west we the men had it in their face for a good bit of our running. After exchanging pleasantries in the parking lot…we grabbed Kitty’’s awesome ‘76 shovel flag and jogged over to the beach. [Read More]

VRUC (Vaguely Ridiculous Unofficial Challenge)

When: Monday 24th July – Saturday 29th July The PAX: 171 in total Warm Up For almost a year, my experience of F3 was one of consistently working out twice a week. However, a strange thing had begun happening in the last 6 months….2 had become 3, 3 became 4, and on it went - the more I posted, the more parts of Carpex and beyond I saw, and the more great people I met, and so inevitably, the more I wanted to go…. What a Zoo!

Pre-BB Last fall, I chaperoned my son’s field trip to the NC Zoo. Master of the obvious, I noticed that all the animals had animal names. So there’s that. BB YHC promised that Phoenix this morning would be a “zoo.” So, we went exclusively with exercises named after animals. When I mentioned my plan after our Pledge of Allegiance, I heard from the twenty-three strong PAX that we were “talking too much. [Read More]

360

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lldD6SVbBQc Yep, just got back from Colorado, as my team qualified to compete in the USA Ultimate Frisbee National Championships. My team hadn’t lost a game since 2014; an unparalleled feat, which resulted in two world championships and one national championship. So when we lost in the quarterfinals by one point, we were certainly disappointed. We ended up 5th in the nation, so not too shabby, but we already were planning our return to greatness, which is exactly 360 days from today. [Read More]

Extra Spicy

Pre-BB In 1785, William Cowper wrote a poem he entitled, “The Task.” In it, Cowper wrote the famous idiom, “Variety is the very spice of life, That gives it all its flavor.” And so it was that SNS this morning was Extra Spicy. BB When the guy who first invited you to F3 asks for help, you help him. I gladly said “yes” when Water Wings asked for a Q sub today. [Read More]

A Bridge Too Far

I arrive at AO I normally don’t visit that often (I tend to go to FOD) but I do enjoy this site and the options it brings. 22 PAX show-up on time ready for another beat down. Welcome FNG Kyrie! Q starts by getting the guys to grab some curb and do a round of quick feet, a good way to warm up before the warm up. We head out running slowly around the corner for: [Read More]

The Brickyard

When: 07/24/2017 QIC: Pet Sounds PAX - 20 total The Brickyard. Following along with the message from last week YHC sees F3 as a way for all PAX to challenge themselves to prepare for whatever comes their way. The pavers at first did not feel heavy and were laughed at by some PAX. However just as in life what starts easy can sometimes derail and turn difficult quickly. To be Life Ready, we must push ourselves through new experiences and challenges. [Read More]
